Mauricio Padilla Mirazo studied biochemical engineering with a specialization in food science. He also completed a specialization in comprehensive education for well-being and a master's degree in bioethics, as well as a doctorate degree in naturopathy. He has clinical experience since 1981 promoting healthy lifestyles for metabolic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, as well as autoimmune diseases and cancer. He is the coordinator of the Milpa Diet project in the Mexican state of Nuevo León. Milpa Diet is an educational project for the prevention and reversal of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. He is the co-author of Dieta de la Milpa; Healthy, regional and culturally relevant Mexican food, and the author of Vitamins, minerals and Phytochemicals, Preventive and Therapeutic Functions.
