Garden of Delights: A Chinese Stir Fry with Flowering Cauliflower, Gai Lan, and Mushrooms
If you are lucky enough to live near an East Asian grocery, you can take advantage of wonderfully diverse and delicious produce. This fast stir fry combines the lovely loose headed flowering cauliflower (san hua), with leafy Chinese broccoli (gai lan), a medley of mushrooms, slender mauve Chinese eggplant (quƩzi), and crispy snow peas ~ all bathed in a traditional Chinese glazing sauce. Douchi (fermented black soybeans) add umami yum, Sichuan pepper provide some mouth-tingle, and fresh and dried red chilies give a little pizazz.
