Creating Healthy Habits that Last A Lifetime at the Mariposa Center for Girls in Cabarete, DR.

Project Title: Creating Healthy Habits that Last A Lifetime at the Mariposa Center for Girls in Cabarete, DR.

Project Description: The Mariposa DR Foundation is a US 501(c) that works in conjunction with the Mariposa Foundation, Inc. our Dominican ONG. We work with Dominican and Haitian girls and their families living in extreme poverty in the Dominican Republic. Our mission is to create sustainable solutions to end generational poverty by educating and empowering girls and inspiring the international community to join the global movement. We fufill our mission by doing whatever it takes to make sure she reaches her full potential. Our home base is the Mariposa Center for Girls in Cabarete on the north coast and we also have a campus in the mountains. MDRF currently serves 200 Dominican and Haitian girls ages 7-23. As the organization exclusively focuses on girls in poverty in the DR, MDRF has created innovative programming to meet the unique needs of this vulnerable population. This includes a food program, because we know that access to healthy, good food matters. It nourishes us, sustains us, and brings us together.
